Privacy Policy

People-Centric Ventures LLC (PCV) is the creator and owner of www.SanJoseON.com, and www.QuickStudyNOW.com.  This Privacy Policy governs the way PCV uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users/visitors on websites. This website is not directed at children under 13 years of age.

Information We Collect

PCV may request or collect personal information from online users in a variety of ways, including through online forms for requesting information, and surveys for consideration into programs, and activities.  Some of the data we collect is information that identifies you personally and may include your name, e-mail address, postal address, telephone and telefax numbers, payment account information, and other information necessary to provide the services requested. PCV also maintains a record of contacts for customer or technical support.

PCV may also collect information about how users access the website through log files and the use of cookies, and through third-party services such as Simple Texting, Survey Monkey, Google Forms, and Google Analytics. Such information may include standard information from your web browser (such as browser type and language), your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, and the actions you take on PCV Web sites (such as the web pages viewed and the links clicked).

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. We may use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For session ID cookies, once you close your browser or log out, the cookie terminates and is erased. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on your computer’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Your browser’s help file contains information and instructions for removing persistent cookies. Session ID cookies may be used by PCV to track user preferences while the user is visiting the website. They also help to minimize load times and save on server processing. Persistent cookies may be used by PCV to store whether, for example, you want your password remembered or not, and other information. Cookies used on the PCV websites do not contain personally identifiable information.

Log Files

Like most standard websites, we use log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and the number of clicks to analyze trends administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. However, none of the information stored in our log files, including but not limited to IP addresses, is linked to personally identifiable information.

How we Use and Share this information

PCV may use and share your personal information to provide the services you have requested. For example, your information may be provided to an Internet company, agencies where we seek devices for you, educational programs, Lifeline services, grantors funding services, and outreach aligned with services you have requested.

PCV may also use the personally identifiable information collected by our websites to contact you regarding other products, services, programs offered by PCV and by its trusted affiliates, independent contractors, and business partners. PCV will not sell or otherwise share this information with a third party for third-party marketing purposes unless you specifically authorize such information sharing.

PCV may also disclose aggregate, anonymous data based on information collected from users to grantors (like the City of San Jose) and potential partners. In such cases, only statistical information will be disclosed, and personally identifiable data will be kept strictly confidential. In case PCV is sold, the information collected from users may be transferred to the new owners.

PCV may from time to time engage third parties, including its own subsidiaries and affiliated companies, to preserve, analyze or otherwise store or manipulate data received by PCV from its surveys and clients.  In all such cases, third-party service providers will be required to treat all such data with the same degree of care as PCV and they will be prohibited from disclosing such data to any other person or party, except as otherwise provided for in this Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics

We use “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this Site, such as how often users visit the Site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this Site.  Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this Site, rather than your name or other identifying information.

Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this Site.  This cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google, Inc.  The information generated by the cookie will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

We use the information received from Google Analytics only to improve services on this Site.  We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information.

Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this Site is restricted by the Google Privacy Policy.  You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this Site by disabling the Google Analytics cookie on your browser (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.)

Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications, though they can deactivate their accounts. However, these communications are not promotional in nature.

Legally-Required Disclosures

Though we make every effort to preserve your privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law, or if PCV believes that disclosure is necessary to protect PCV’s rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, subpoena, or another legal process. PCV may also disclose information about you if we determine that for national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary.

Maintenance of Information

The information provided to PCV is saved indefinitely and may be stored on one or more databases directly or indirectly maintained by PCV. PCV employs industry-standard security measures to protect the confidentiality of the information. Any other particularly sensitive information, such as credit card numbers collected for commercial transactions, is encrypted prior to transmission by you to PCV sites. Your use of the PCV Services may result in the transfer of information internationally, including into or outside of the United States. By visiting accessing this site or using the PCV Services you consent to such transfers.

While PCV uses industry-standard measures to protect your information, no security measures are foolproof, and it is impossible to guarantee the complete security of data sent or maintained via the internet.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for the security of your Customer ID and passwords. Make sure you keep them in a safe place and do not share them with others. Always remember to log out after your session ends to ensure that others cannot access your private personal information. You should take this precaution even if you are not using a public computer, such as at a library or internet café, but even when using your private computer in your home. You are also responsible for keeping your contact information up to date.   Certain information must be retained by PCV, even after termination of your account, for PCV to be able to provide the services requested, comply with its legal obligations, or allow PCV to resolve disputes or enforce its agreements.
